Why Pay to Volunteer?

Volunteering abroad is another option for international travel that is gaining popularity. Volunteering abroad offers a variety of enriching and rewarding experiences both for the volunteer and for the communities which host them.
Comprehensive preparation and support for both volunteers and host communities receiving volunteers are essential.
A responsible volunteer program such as SLVP provides extensive, friendly support to volunteers before, during, and after the program, making sure that they get the maximum benefit for the money and time they invest.
Volunteer programs such as SLVP incur expenses for ensuring safe and sustainable programs for volunteers and the community they serve. These include:
- Wages for the staff/coordinators and other service providers enabling smooth functioning of the programs
- Transport and travel costs: in order to provide the best service to volunteers, it’s important to visit and supervise the respective projects in various locations on a regular basis to make sure that the programs are up to standard.
- Infrastructure development: some projects require infrastructure development in order to maintain the smooth functioning of the project, for example, purchasing necessary equipment and/or stationary for a teaching placement, etc.
- Meals and accommodation for the volunteers during their stay, providing them with a comfortable, safe, and enjoyable time with us.
- Other overheads such as office rent, telephone/internet, transport, stationery, and website updates, etc. to provide a sustainable service.
In order to provide the best possible experience for our volunteers, SLVP charges a reasonable fee from the participating volunteers.
What does your program fee cover?
- Airport pick-up on arrival
- Transfer from project to project (Applicable for Combo Projects)
- Project orientation
- Guaranteed Project and Accommodation
- 3 meals a day from Monday to Friday
- 24/7 support service by the in-country team
- Travel guidance throughout the project period
- References and/or Certificate on successful completion of the project
What your project fee doesn’t cover?
- Travel and Medical insurance
- International Airfare, Visa, or Visa extension fee
- Airport drop-off (if not stated under the relevant project)
- Local transport
- Meals/refreshments other than the main meals
- Toiletries and bottled water
- Personal expenses
- Weekend trips etc.
