Day 01

Arrival in Sri Lanka | Negombo
Upon arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo, you will be met by our tour representative who will transfer you to your hotel in Negombo. After checking in and freshening up, you can explore the town and its beautiful beaches. Negombo is known for its vibrant fishing industry and bird-watching opportunities, so keep your binoculars handy! Program of the Day:
  • Relax on the beach.
  • Visit Muthurajawela Bird Sanctuary.
  • Enjoy an evening boat ride in Hamilton Canal and the lagoon (Optional).
  • Go on an evening walk to explore the vibrant locality.

    Day 02

    Sinharaja Forest Reserve
    After enjoying an early breakfast, we will embark on our journey to the Sinharaja Forest Reserve, which is situated in the southwestern region of Sri Lanka and holds the esteemed status of being a UNESCO World Heritage Site as well as a thriving biodiversity hotspot. This remarkable forest is a haven for more than 140 bird species, including 21 out of the 36 endemic species found exclusively in Sri Lanka. Upon our arrival, we will proceed to check into the Sinharaja Eco Lodge, nestled right in the heart of the forest. The remainder of the day will be dedicated to exploring the surrounding area of the lodge, where we will have the delightful opportunity to spot and observe some of the marvelous feathered inhabitants that reside in this captivating ecosystem. Program of the Day:
  • Visit the vibrant Fish Market early in the morning before leaving for the Rain Forest.
  • Transfer to Sinharaja Rainforest Eco Lodge.
  • Embark on an evening stroll to discover the diverse birdlife around the lodge.
  • Accommodations: Sinharaja Rainforest Eco Lodge. Meal Plan: HB Transfer Time: 3 hours

    Day 03

    Galle
    After enjoying a hearty breakfast, we will set out on a captivating bird-watching expedition within the rainforest, accompanied by a knowledgeable trekker. Following this immersive experience, we will continue our journey toward the historic city of Galle, nestled along the picturesque southwestern coast of Sri Lanka. En route, we will make several stops at notable bird-watching hotspots, including the renowned Kottawa Forest Reserve, celebrated for its impressive owl population. In Galle, we will have the opportunity to explore the captivating Galle Fort, an architectural marvel constructed by the Portuguese during the 16th century and designated as a revered UNESCO World Heritage Site. Program of the Day:
  • Embark on a birdwatching trail in the rainforest.
  • Transfer to Galle.
  • En route, visit the Kottawa Forest Reserve.
  • Check in to your hotel and unwind.
  • Take a leisurely evening walk around the Galle Fort and explore its surroundings.
  • Day 04

    Bundala National Park
    After breakfast, we will leave for Bundala National Park (Bird Sanctuary), located on the southeastern coast of Sri Lanka. The park is a bird watcher's paradise, with around 200 bird species, including many migratory and water birds. We will take a jeep safari through the park and spend the day spotting birds and other wildlife. In the evening, we will check into a hotel in Tissamaharamaya, a nearby town. Program of the Day:
  • After breakfast transfer to Bundala and Tissamaharamaya.
  • En route visit Rumassala Peace Pagoda.
  • Visit Unawatuna Jungle beach.
  • Evening Safari at Bundala Bird Sanctuary.
  • On completion check in to your hotel in Tissamaharamaya and unwind.
  • Day 05

    Yala National Park
    With a packed breakfast we will embark on an exhilarating half-day jeep safari to Yala National Park, Sri Lanka's renowned and biodiverse sanctuary. Discover a haven for wildlife, including elephants, leopards, and over 200 recorded bird species. Expert guides will lead you through diverse habitats, where you'll encounter colorful Sri Lanka Junglefowl, Malabar Pied Hornbill, Lesser Adjutant, Greater Flamingo, Painted Stork, and Asian Openbill Stork. Awe-inspiring raptors like the White-bellied Sea Eagle may soar above, adding to the excitement. With luck, witness elephants enjoying refreshing baths and catch a glimpse of elusive leopards. After the safari, we will check out of the hotel and proceed to our next bird paradise, Udawalawe National Park. We will then check into the hotel there and relax before embarking on our next bird-watching expedition the following morning. Program of the Day:
  • Go on a half-day safari in Yala National Park with a packed breakfast and picnic lunch.
  • On completion check out the hotel and leave for Udawalawe.
  • Day 06

    Udawalawe National Park | Ella

    After breakfast, we will leave for Udawalawe National Park, located close to the southern part of Sri Lanka. The park is home to many bird species, including the Orange-breasted Green Pigeon, Lesser Whistling-Duck, and Eurasian Wigeon. We will take a jeep safari through the park and spend the day spotting birds and other wildlife. In the evening, we will check into a hotel in Udawalawe.

    Udawalawe National Park - Located in the southern part of Sri Lanka, Udawalawe National Park is known for its large elephant population, but it's also a great bird-watching destination. The park is home to over 200 bird species, including the Malabar Pied Hornbill, Crested Hawk-eagle, and the Indian Peafowl. It's also a great place to see raptors and dry-zone birds.

    Program of the Day:

    • Go on a morning safari in Udawalawe National Park with a packed breakfast.
    • Witness the adorable milk feeding of baby elephants at Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home.
    • Transfer to your hotel in Ella, a charming hill station that captivates travelers with its beauty.
    • Visit the magnificent 9-arch bridge, an architectural marvel from the British era.
    • Hike Mini Adam’s Peak and immerse yourself in the breathtaking panoramic beauty of Ella.
    • Relax and unwind in Ella's cozy corners.

    Day 07

    Horton Plains | Nuwara Eliya

    In the early morning, equipped with a packed breakfast, we will continue our birding adventure to Horton Plains National Park, nestled in the breathtaking central highlands of Sri Lanka. The park is a biodiversity hotspot and is home to many bird species, including the Sri Lanka Whistling Thrush. Following our exploration of this natural wonderland, our journey will continue to Nuwara Eliya, affectionately referred to as "Little England." This picturesque town once served as a favored holiday resort during the British colonial era, and its architecture still showcases a delightful blend of British influence and local charm.

    Horton Plains National Park is located in the mesmerizing central highlands of Sri Lanka and holds the prestigious status of being a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Renowned for its incredible bird-watching opportunities, the park attracts enthusiasts from around the world. With a staggering diversity of avian life, the park proudly boasts over 80 different bird species, 20 of which are endemic to the region. Among the fascinating endemic species that can be spotted are the Sri Lanka White-eye, Sri Lanka Bush Warbler, Sri Lankan Frogmouth, and the Dull-blue Flycatcher. Additionally, the park is a haven for montane birds and other endemic species, making it an ideal destination for bird lovers.

    • Birding expedition in Plains National Park for birding.
    • Transfer to Nuwara Eliya, unwind, and relax in the delightful British-like atmosphere.

    Day 08

    Nuwara Eliya | Scenic Train Journey to Kandy

    In the morning, we will embark on a captivating city tour of Nuwara Eliya, allowing us to delve into the rich historical roots of the British period in Sri Lanka. As we explore this picturesque town, we will be treated to the sight of lush green tea plantations, magnificent waterfalls, and awe-inspiring scenery, all while learning about the profound influence of the British on the island.

    Upon concluding the city tour, we will embark on one of the world's most scenic train journeys, from Nuwara Eliya to Kandy. This enchanting train ride will take us through the verdant hills and tea plantations of the hill country, unveiling breathtaking views of Sri Lanka along the way. Upon arrival in Kandy, we will check into our hotel and have the remainder of the day at our leisure to unwind or explore the town and its surroundings. Notably, Kandy is renowned for its cultural heritage and is home to the revered Temple of the Tooth Relic, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

    Day 09

    Kandy

    Today, we will visit the Temple of the Tooth, one of the most sacred Buddhist temples in Sri Lanka and the final resting place of the tooth relic of the Buddha. The temple is located in the heart of Kandy, which was the last royal capital in Sri Lanka and is an important pilgrimage site for Buddhists around the world. After visiting the temple, we will explore the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, which is one of the most beautiful and well-maintained botanical gardens in Asia, and on completion, witness a traditional Kandyan dance performance, which showcases the unique culture of the region. Return to your hotel and unwind and relax in the evening.

    • Visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Buddha and witness the daily rituals.
    • Take a walk around the Scenic Kandy Lake.
    • Bird-watching session at Udawattha forest (Optional).

    Departure
