The Sports Coaching Volunteer Program, organized by Sri Lanka Volunteer Program (SLVP), is a
transformative initiative aimed at providing coaching and training to young athletes in Sri Lanka.

and knowledge to excel in their chosen sports. Volunteers from across the globe, who possess a
deep passion for sports and coaching, are invited to participate in this program. Through their

Program Overview
The Sports Coaching Volunteer Program focuses on enhancing skills and fostering a love for sports in Sri Lanka. The program prioritises sports such as Badminton, Table Tennis, Football, Rugger, Basketball, Chess, and any other sports. In collaboration with local schools and sports clubs, volunteers will work closely with local coaches and athletes to provide personalised coaching and training.Through the program, volunteers will have the opportunity to share their expertise, teach fundamental techniques, and implement specialised training strategies. They will inspire and motivate young athletes, fostering a competitive spirit and sportsmanship. By providing individualised attention and guidance, volunteers will help athletes develop their abilities, improve their performance, and reach their full potential. The program also emphasises the importance of teamwork, discipline, and fair play. Volunteers will organise practice sessions, friendly matches, and competitions to enhance athletes' skills and promote a sense of camaraderie within the local sports community. Program Activities:
The Sports Coaching Volunteer Program is open to volunteers who have experience in coaching or playing the following sports: Badminton, Table Tennis, Football, Rugger, Basketball, Chess, and any other sports. The program aims to place volunteers in local schools, community centers, and sports clubs to work with children and young adults.
Volunteers will work alongside local coaches and trainers to develop training plans, coach athletes, and organize sports events. The program will also provide volunteers with opportunities to develop their coaching skills and learn new coaching techniques.
Volunteers will be involved in the following activities:
- Planning and delivering coaching sessions to local sports teams
- Assisting local coaches in developing training plans and strategies
- Organising and running sports events and tournaments
- Providing feedback and advice to local coaches and athletes
- Developing coaching materials and resources
- Engaging with local communities to promote sports activities and events
Program Duration:
The Sports Coaching Volunteer Program requires a minimum commitment of 4 weeks, although longer stays are encouraged. Volunteers will be required to work 4-6 hours per day, 5 days a week.
Application requirements:
- This program is open to volunteers of all ages and backgrounds who have the skill, experience, and expertise in any of the Sports mentioned above.
- Volunteers should be enthusiastic, patient, and willing to work with students of varying ages and abilities and local teachers of the relevant subject.
- All volunteers must be at least 18 years older.
- Volunteers must have a valid passport, travel insurance and obtain a visa to enter Sri Lanka.
- Police Background Check: All volunteers are required to provide a police background check when applying for the program. This is to ensure the safety and protection of the local community.
Accommodation:
Volunteers will be provided with safe and comfortable shared accommodations, located at the project or within close proximity. Basic amenities such as beds, fans, and bathroom facilities will be provided to ensure volunteers have a comfortable stay during their time in the program. The accommodation will offer a chance for volunteers to connect with like-minded individuals and share experiences, fostering a sense of camaraderie and cultural exchange. Meals:
Volunteers will be provided with three nutritious meals per day, including vegetarian options. The meals will be prepared using locally sourced ingredients, giving volunteers an opportunity to savour traditional Sri Lankan cuisine. Dietary restrictions or preferences can be accommodated if communicated in advance.
Program Fees:
Please contact the SLVP team directly for detailed information regarding the program fee. The program fee typically covers accommodation, meals, airport transfers, program coordination, orientation, training, administration, and support services.
Volunteers are responsible for their airfare, travel insurance, visa fees, and any other expense of personal nature including local transport, sightseeing, etc.
Program Support:
Program Orientation: Upon arrival, volunteers will receive a comprehensive orientation, including information about project activities, safety guidelines, and cultural sensitivities. This orientation will help volunteers acclimate to the program and understand their roles and responsibilities. Program Coordinators: Dedicated program coordinators will be available throughout the program to provide support, guidance, and address any concerns or questions volunteers may have. 24/7 Emergency Support: In case of any emergencies or urgent situations, a 24/7 emergency support system will be in place to assist volunteers and ensure their well-being.
